Heroes of Healing

A Pain Survivor Community

The past couple of months have not been very good for me for several reasons. First, I had a nasty fall at the end of August. It has taken quite some time for me to recover from the injuries, much longer than I had ever expected. Next I came down with a case of the flu ... oh, great! It is going on three weeks now and I am so tired of being sick. The doctor said this is a viral infection and therefore, antibiotics will not help. As we all know, when we are stricken with any illness, it magnifies our physical conditions even more. I have been in terrible pain and I am so tired. The doctor prescribed oxycodone, which I am to add to my regular medication regiment. Needless to say, I have not been a happy camper lately.

To continue, last Tuesday my health aide advised me that she was leaving her position with the agency. Over the past months, I have become very fond of Ashley and it saddened me to have her leave. In fact, I cried so badly. But I fully understand her reasons for leaving and I wish her well. Ashley said that she would keep in touch with me, but only time will tell on that. I really hope to see her again, but I know that she has her life.

But finally, today I have some great news .... the worker's comp insurance carrier has approved the installation of a new driveway at my home and the contractors are outside right now beginning the work!!! The way that our home is situated, there are many steps to either enter or exit the property. I have basically been a prisoner in my own home as it has become so very difficult for me to make it up and down the stairs. There have been many times when I have stood at the bottom of the steps and cried, not knowing how I was going to make it into the house. I just do not have the strength any longer to conquer a full flight of steps. So the installation of this driveway has me so thrilled, as I will now be able to go out occasionally and take part in the outside world!!

Unfortunately, the weathermen are predicting up to 6 inches of snowfall in our area for tomorrow. But I will remain hopeful that all of the snow will "go away" by Sunday, as I want to go out!!!

Thanks for listening, and have a wonderful day!

Hi Stacie! Although I wish you were feeling better, I do understand your sense of freedom at the prospect of being able to get out more. I also get how overwhelming a flight of stairs can be!!! I hope you are getting through our "latest" storm as best as possible. Will be in touc more when my internet is back up. I am typing this on my new cell phone. At least I have this. Wishing you peace andhealing!!!
