Hi Ya'll!  I just joined the group, and will just start by saying I live a VERY animal-oriented lifestyle.  I have four cats and a horse myself, but my family has a farm with dogs, cats, horses, mini-horses, donkeys, mini-donkeys, goats, guinea fowls, and I have a second job at the Humane Society of Fairfax County taking care of the horses and quarantine dogs in Centreville, Virginia.  I can't even imagine my life, especially dealing with daily pain, without the comfort of my angels to sooth my soul!  I will definitely have to share more when I have more time!  Cheers!-Crystal

Cathy,

Your two dogs are adorable. Just seeing their sweet faces makes me smile. I completely agree with both you and Stacie -- my animals are everything to me. They love me unconditionally, and their gentle souls and cute faces melt my heart. I have two dogs and a cat, and I believe I am better because of them. They are the ones who hear me scream, who jump on my lap to calm me down, who lick my face when I am crying.  I love them to pieces!

I hope you all are feeling well this evening. Sending love--

Hi Cathy,

After reading your post about your relationship with your pets, I whole-heartedly agree with you. I spend my days with my Golden Retriever, Colby. He is my companion for 12 hours each and every day, as my husband is off to work and my son no longer lives at home. So from 6:00am to 6:00pm, Colby is by my side. When I take my walk around through the house, he is with me. When I am lying in bed, he is there. And somehow he knows when I am having a bad day, as he doesn't take his eyes off of me. In the middle of the night when I am having a spasm attack, he tries so hard to get to me. He gets so upset when I am crying - he gets very anxious.

I truely believe that if something was to happen to me, Colby would be very upset, and I think he would be very confused. Animals are very smart and they sense when something is wrong. They thrive on routine and when that routine is broken, they get very confused. And on the other side, I would be lost if something was to happen to Colby. He is my true friend! I have posted photos of Colby before, but here he is again - my baby!

I am surrounded by animals, especially now that my daughter has grown up and flown the nest to pursue her own life. Of course she returns regularly to renew and recoup at this safe haven where she is loved unconditionally. But for the times in between and for all time, my daily routine spins around caring for my 3 birds and 2 dogs. Sometimes they are the only reason I get up or go out for a walk. Sometimes when I ask myself who would truly be at a loss if I were gone, the answer is them. If you can possibly keep animal companions in your life, I recommends it. They give you everything for so little back. Here are pix of my dogs .maquis0410.jpgneejee05102.jpg

Hi Cyndi,

I just saw the photo of Patches and she is so beautiful! And isn't it amazing how they can tell if we are not feeling well? It amazes me that my dog, Colby, knows when I am having a bad day. He will lay right next to me (he is on the floor, of course!) and he will stay there all day. And if I happen to get up for a soda or something, he is right there with me. I wonder how they know ........

Hope you are having a comfortable day.

Stacie

This is my buddy Patches.  Just stroking her fur can be so soothing.  She also has an instinct for when I am not feeling well.

This is Cid. He was my very best friend. He died 3 years ago at 7 years old. Much too young. I miss him SO much!
