A Pain Survivor Community

Today was such a wonderful day. My dear friend of forty years came to visit and we spent a few hours together just talking and laughing. Sarah and I have been friends for so long and I cannot imagine life without her. She is one of the most caring individuals I have ever known and I truely cherish our friendship. We are different in so many ways and yet we have so much in common. The conversation just flows - it is not strained in any way.

As I said, Sarah is such a caring woman. A while back I had mentioned that I was having some difficulty chopping different foods in the kitchen. So today Sarah brought me an electric chopper and she said she hopes that it will make food preparation easier for me. This kind gesture brought tears to my eyes. We all know those so called friends who have disappeared when we started having our physical difficulties. Sarah is definately not one of them. She has always been there for me and I have no doubt that she will continue to be with me on this journey. I am truely blessed.

When our time together came to an end, I became so emotional. Sarah lives almost an hour's drive away from me so we are not able to see each other every week. But we will talk on the phone regularly and we will send each other e-mails, as well. It is definately not the same as being together, but I know that we will see one another very soon.

I was wondering if anyone else has a close friendship like I have with Sarah, and how has this friend responded to your physical issues. It is so important to have that special bond as we tend to feel so isolated from other's, especially in the cold winter months.

Wishing you all a comfortable evening.

Stacie
